IRCTC gives solution to "Money debited but ticket not booked" problem

IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering Tourism Corporation) offer to book online train tickets in India before 4 months to journey date. In India every one like to train travel because cheap ticket cost and safety journey. The online payment at IRCTC involves complex system of technical and telecommunication networking integration between customer’s Internet bandwidth, IT system of banks and payment gateways and is dependent on internet connectivity across various constituents.

While online ticket booking any failure or delay in this complex network may cause transaction failure before completion. This can raise the situation of money debited from the account but ticket not booked problems. Now IRCTC Explained the reason and solution for this problem. Here below the table by IRCTC

Payment Settled but Ticket Not Booked Passenger opted for particular berth at the time of booking and ticket not booked due to choice of Berth not available.
Other reasons such as network failures etc.
Amount is credited back on next day to the respective Bank. Bank credits back the amount within 2-3 working days in Account through which booking was done.

Settlement Failed and Ticket Not Booked System or network failure at Banks end or at PG before remitting Ticket Amount to IRCTC . Amount is not credited to IRCTC Account. Amount is with Bank. Bank will refund the money after due verification.

So here after you no need to bother about your debited money with in a 3 day's the amount will be refund to your account.

  1. I think this option is available for long time as I am getting automatic refund in case of amount debit. Now the refund process speed increased?

  2. I have an IRCTC account which is locked second time.
    When i tried to reset the password through forget password link, it asks User id, question and Answer. I provided all the details and it throws an error "Answer is Incorrect". This happend second time and both the times i tried to login through the actual password.
    I waited for a week and there was no response from IRCTC customer care. I called them up on 24 Hrs. Customer Support at 011-23340000 and it took about 12 calls to make them understand about the issue. When ever i called up the customer support the person attnding the call will redirect me to someone else after listening to my detail and again i need to explain whole story, inshort that was waste of time and money.
    I sent an email at care@irctc.co.in also submit at http://www.consumercourt.in/railways/14030-irctc-login.html and got an automated email as Ticket Confirmation for the request.
    IRCTC should hire service and satisfaction oriented support executives so that it a common man has no pain of wasting time and money.

  3. Due to low speed of my internet connection I got this kind of problem several times. Many a time I got the refund as per the first reason stated above. However due to the second reason I could not get the refund two times. But I did not complaint to any one - Bank or IRTC. I stopped taking risk with slow connections first nd then started avoiding it and taking ticket by paying cash at the counter. That is also having problem of agents and we do not know whether ticket is available. Unless we have a couple of months on hand we can not think of booking ticket at the counter of Railways. Best is the Bus; get in to it any time - no problem - no cheating - no toilet - it is ok because of stops.
